Visiting Dalhousie – Ultimate Travel Experience

A hill station located in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh was always on my bucket list. I had heard so much about its breathtaking scenery and charming colonial architecture, that I couldn’t resist the temptation to visit this place. Finally, I took the plunge and planned a trip to this beautiful place.

One of the major reasons for Dalhousie being a choice was that all my friends had visited it and not just once but a lot of times. And I always had this FOMO, how come I have not? So, yes, irrelevant information nobody asked for!

Post leaving Chamba, our ride was set to our next destination. But in between, we also took a small detour to visit Chamera Lake. Nestled in the scenic hills of Himachal Pradesh, Chamera Lake is a must-visit destination for anyone who loves nature and tranquility. And who am I? A nature hoarder, someone who can stay amidst the greenery, and water bodies and spend hours there. Located near the town of Dalhousie, Chamera Lake is a man-made reservoir that was created by damming the Ravi River. The lake is surrounded by lush green forests and majestic mountains, making it a picture-perfect spot for nature lovers and photographers.

Visiting Chamera Lake is a unique experience, as it allows you to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the region. We took a boat ride on the lake and it was amazing. It costs us around 300 per person for a motorboat ride, I recommend you, check out my Youtube Video for more details.

Apart from its natural beauty, Chamera Lake is also an ideal spot for adventure activities such as river rafting, kayaking, and rock climbing. But by the time we went there, all these activities were closed. So, our ride then moved ahead, on our way to the heartland.

As it snowed a night back, the view was just wow! The moment we stepped out of the car, we were welcomed by the fresh mountain air, lush snow-covered forests, and rolling hills. I felt as if I was transported to another world, one that was peaceful and serene.

We took a leisurely stroll through the quaint streets of Dalhousie, admiring the colonial architecture and the beauty of the surrounding landscape. Heading to the Mall Road, walking on a tad bit risky trail – the snow was melting on the road and the walk had become a little imbalanced! I shopped for a couple of souvenirs from the Mall road.

We had ample time to visit the place, explore places in Dalhousie, and do a lot of things possible, however, our exploration was restricted due to snowfall. The snowfall that happened the night before was so heavy that it blocked a lot of roads. So much so that you could not have been able to cross the path via walking.

So, post mall road exploration we went to book a nearby hotel. The next day, we went up again and were lucky enough for road clearance and we could go to Panjpulla waterfalls. The trail was so amazing, and the view ah! Nothing less than mesmerizing.

Post spending some serene time near the waterfall, a little trek to reach the waterfall, playing with snowballs, and how could we forget having Maggi? The time spent in Dalhousie was all recovered with the visit to Panjpulla.

Isn’t it just oh-so beautiful view?

We made a second visit to Mall Road in Dalhousie on our way back to the hotel room. Each time I visit Himachal, a new place, a new destination, the satisfaction level is unexplainable – just leaves me speechless. It is about both the place, the trip, and the experiences.

Post returning from Mall Road, we decided to reach our next destination – Amritsar, Punjab! This is yet another connecting destination for a really important place I have been traveling for. You will come across the said destination in my upcoming travel stories, so stay tuned.

In conclusion, my visit to Dalhousie was a truly magical experience. The breathtaking scenery, charming colonial architecture, and rich cultural heritage of the region left a lasting impression on me. I would highly recommend a visit to Dalhousie to anyone looking for a serene and peaceful getaway, and I can guarantee that you won’t be disappointed.
