Hello, Travelers!
I am back with sharing yet again a travel experience of mine! This time it’s with Shimla! This time I will be trying a new way of letting you know my experience and also letting you know about it if you plan to make an escapade there!
I went to Shimla way back in the year 2007. I explored place along with my Dad, Mom, and younger brother. A city is a beautiful place where you see the nature at it’s best. Hill stations are a favorite destination for my mom. She loves the snow covered mountains and nature! However, back in those time, I was a huge Bollywood buff! (Okay, I am one now too!) So, my anxiety to explore Shimla was just one question: Will I be able to sit in the toy train where Jab We Met was shot? Yes, I was!
The train leads from Shimla to Kalka and we then were further routed to Bhatinda! (Indeed, a full Jab We Met tour2!) Okay, not wasting much of your time in blabbering my Bollywood and Shimla love! Let me give you an insight about Shimla!
Shimla is the name that will come to everyone’s mind when one thinks of a hill station. Also referred as ‘Queen of Hills’, Shimla is the capital city of Himachal Pradesh. This 12 Square km city is situated at a height of 2,205 m from sea level and is surrounded by Himalayan ranges, juicy apple fruit farms and dense pine forests. Shimla, gains its name from ‘Shyamali Devi’ – Goddess Kali, justifying its ancient, historic and scenic beauty. This hill station has places of interest from worshipers to adventurers.
For many reasons this destination has been listed amongst the UNESCO World Heritage Site for its ancientness, temples, churches, traditional legacy, being summer capital during British rule, some Victorian-era architecture, and various adventures. Being a cosmopolitan city, one can find unity in diversities during their summer festivals and winter carnivals jointly organized by locals and Himachal Tourism. This includes cultural shows, traditional singing, and dancing, painting competitions, food festival, flower show, etc. Hence from young to old, all people can find thousands of reasons to push back their chair and enjoy their good and sweet ‘we’ time with family and friends. This place has become a center attraction and the foremost choice for honeymoon couples to start their new phase of life.
