Row Your Boat!

Varanasi – The City of Life and Enlightenment.

I chose this picture as the Spotlight Of The Week as it depicts the truest meaning of the City. The river Ganges serves several purposes. Living for the boat riders and fisherman, Goddess to the devotees, Beauty for the travelers, and Enlightenment for the death.

Well, my aim to visit the Dashashwamedh Ghat was the sunrise, the morning Ganga Arti, and the “Subah-e-Banaras’, which is much recently started. Tourists, locals, and photographers are always seen in huge numbers near the ghats. Boats in all shapes and kinds are rowing down the stream. Motorboats and Hand motioned ones, depending on what boat you want to ride on. The charges they ask for is huge, you have to be a skilled bargainer and act as a local than a traveler.

Secondly, the price also depends if you want to take a ride from Assi Ghat to the Dashashwamedh Ghat (Which is called the main ghat) other than the Manikarnika Ghat, which rolls down several stories of its curses and origin. Yes! Varanasi is yet another city in India that has several folks connected to its name, especially the spiritual ones!

So, stay tuned to this space for more such stories about the Holy City of India- Varanasi!
